The 5 Star Comedy Preview 2013

Well it’s only a few weeks now until the NZ Inernational Comedy Festival kicks off (26 April – 19 May) and what better way to start than with seven International guest Comedians packed in to one huge two hour show!

Each year The 5 Star Comedy Preview is one of the most eagerly awaited shows in the comedy festival calendar as it provides us punters with a taste of things to come over the following three weeks.

In 2013 the ‘5 Star Comedy Preview’ introduces some brand new acts to New Zealand, some scouted from the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe, the worlds biggest live comedy festival.

So no mucking about here’s the line up!!

Tom Gleeson (Australia) – One of Melbourne’s finest and a popular trans-Tasman guest on TV3’s top rating ‘7 DAYS’ show.

Markus Birdman (England) – A veteran of five Edinburgh Fringe Festivals – “the all-round package; witty, controversial, hip, topical and silly” – The BBC

Elis James (Wales) – An emerging talent from Britain who combines story-telling, characters and straight stand-up with his charming delivery that has made him such a favourite on the British comedy circuit.

James Acaster (England) – 2012 Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee – “one of the sharpest comic minds to have emerged in recent years.” The Guardian UK

Andrew Bird (England) – “Absolutely charming. A great storyteller. Funny, likeable and effortless” Time Out UK

Stuart Goldsmith (England) – Definitely one to watch following three critically acclaimed solo shows over the last three Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

Chris Martin (England) – After a very popular on debut here in the 2012 he’s back with a new show in 2013 and looking forward to catching up with a growing legion of fans.

All these comics will be appearing in a variety of shows during the festival, as well as their own shows, but this is your only chance to see all them together on the same stage. Start your comedy festival experience off with this unique show.

The 5 Star Comedy Preview is in Auckland only at the SKYCITY Theatre on 25 April.
