NZFW – Hailwood
Hailwood as per usual delivered an A/W collection that exuded elegance. Mixing in luxurious flowing fabrics in burgundy, navy, jacquards and pops of brighter, more saturated hues.
Drapery and a ’20s and ’60s inspired hair styling hinted at an old world sophistication of lounging around, enjoying and living life in the finest garments from exotic places.
The show itself dictated this nicely, with retina burning bright lights shining at the very beginning and end. I overheard the Production manager saying “Adrian [Hailwood] likes to do something a little different.”
Paired with blue jeans, some Lana Del Rey and the seasonal bird print, this collection was something a little bit different, yet very Hailwood, very well executed and very decadent – an allusion to the Gatsby era of parties, glamour and luxury.
Personal favourites include the draped camel coat and mostly the hair styling which was so on par with theme.
