Get Ready for Wellington Open Day: Sunday 25 May

Entry to some of our capital’s top attractions will be a mere gold coin (that’s 2 bucks) on Sunday 25 May. All money raised on the day will be donated to a charity of each of the participants’ choice.

“Wellington Open Day offers locals the opportunity to both discover new places an d keep up-to-date with the latest developments at their favourite attractions” says Positively Wellington Tourism Chief Executive David Perks.

Circa Theatre on the waterfront will be offering backstage tours and sneak peeks of current and upcoming productions throughout the day.

“If you’ve ever wanted a look behind-the-scenes, to see how the magic of theatre really works, now is your chance.” said Richard Chapman, Co-coordinator of the Circa Council.

The doors will open at 10am and backstage tours will be offered half hourly between 10:30am and 2:30pm (15 people per tour, first come first served). Other events, including puppetry and talks, will take place as follows (all are family-friendly and will happen in the foyer)

Other participating attractions include:

  • Carter Observatory – entry into the exhibition for a taster of the observatory
  • City Gallery – a back-of-house tour to see how they make exhibitions come to life
  • Holocaust Centre of New Zealand – a moving experience which tells the stories of the survivors and victims that came to NZ
  • Motel Bar – get a Mojito lesson and drink it afterwards with complimentary nibbles
  • The Library Bar – a classic Champagne cocktail workshop with nibbles too
  • Wellington Zoo – get up close and personal with native treasures and exotic animals
  • Zealandia – see why Zealandia is a unique and internationally recognised native wildlife attraction

A great excuse for catching up with friends and family and visiting somewhere new in the city.
