Last night the Capitol Cinema hosted the launch of the 9th annual Show Me Shorts Film Festival.
Show Me Shorts will screen at 20 cinemas around New Zealand this November, stretching from Matakana to Stewart Island.
There are 41 short films and six music videos in the program, divided into six themed sessions:
- Art Will Save the World
- In the Neighbourhood
- Listen Up
- Time Travellers
- My Generation – for children and families
Countries represented are: New Zealand, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Israel, Australia, USA, China, UK, Czech Republic, Switzerland and France.
We got a preview of eight of the films from across the program, which included the mesmerising music video Glare by Sheep, Dog & Wolf We especially enjoyed the One-Minute Time Machine and The Last 40 Miles from the international selection.
Our Kiwi favourites were the edgy and funny bromance Coconut and the adorable animation Condom.
It’s a wonderful festival featuring some high profile stars and world premières and it’s also New Zealand’s only Academy Accredited Film Festival.
Show Me Shorts launches with the Rialto Channel Opening Night & Awards Ceremony on Thursday 6 November at Auckland’s majestic picture palace, The Civic.
