Stand up for Kids Review

When driving my 7-year old boy to his Saturday rugby game, we saw that ad saying “tickle mine I’ll tickle yours” which resulted in an interesting chat about how to stimulate our imagination. Later at ‘Stand-Up For Kids’ at Q Theatre we found the best possible way to unleash our silly side!

We went with a bunch of friends, adults and kids aged 7 to 15, and we couldn’t have had a better time. A couple of us even got to temporarily run the show on stage with the comedians.

Jarred Fell was our fab magician MC who knew how to work his audience, and got us all bursting into laughter from the off set! The kids just couldn’t get enough of his tricks! Fell, along with Jon Bennett and Trygve Wakenshaw, gave us a wonderful family afternoon of fun and giggles.

Having children as an audience must be one of the biggest challenge for comedians, they take no prisoners, definitely speak their mind and dish out random heckles, but this talented group kept all ages entertained.

Wakenshaw’s mime act did an amazing job at spinning every interruption from the kids into a delirious improv. An immersive watch for the whole audience.

One of the highlights of the show was the tap dancer’s poo jokes… You can never go wrong with kids comedy with a classic poo joke.

We all had a great time and laughed a lot and the kids were hysterical at the cake eating race!

“I liked everything. It was VERY funny! I got on stage to participate to a ‘classic cake eating race’ and almost chocked – I was laughing so hard!” – Sienna, 10

“The cake challenge was the best part. He ate it off the ground without his hands. There was glitter in the cake and tons of crums in his beard!” – Adel, 7

A wonderful show to tickle the funny bones of the whole family.
