Shakespeare’s famous Globe Theatre will rise again … in Auckland.

On the 400th year anniversary of his death, William Shakespeare’s famous Globe Theatre will rise again … in Auckland.

Today promoters of POP-UP GLOBE — the world’s first faithful reconstruction of Shakespeare’s second Globe Theatre — unmask the location of this groundbreaking, history-making development: Bard’s Yard (38 Greys Avenue)!

Nestled in Auckland’s Aotea Quarter, next door to the Town Hall, across from the Aotea Centre and directly behind Q Theatre, this full-scale temporary working replica of Shakespeare’s famous Globe Theatre will literally ‘pop up’ for a strictly limited period, feature two of Shakespeare’s most famous works, ROMEO & JULIET and TWELFTH NIGHT, then disappear.

These two productions will run simultaneously, over multiple sessions during the day for schools and evenings for fans. Advance tickets are on sale today via Eventfinda.

Mayor Len Brown says POP-UP GLOBE will be a great addition to Auckland’s arts scene and the upcoming sizzling summer of events.

“Initiated and launched here in Auckland, POP-UP GLOBE is a chance for Kiwis to have a remarkable Shakespearian theatrical experience driven by a remarkable Kiwi bringing his skills and experiences back home, and a wonderful complement to the Auckland Arts Festival.”

POP-UP GLOBE brings this unforgettable experience to Auckland.
