Rhys Darby returns to NZ with comedy special and musical duo

You’ve probably heard that Rhys Darby will be back in NZ to host this year’s Flick Electric Co. NZ International Comedy Festival Comedy Gala. But, did you know he’s also resurrecting a musical duo? In 1996 Rhys Darby and Grant Lobban formed Rhysently Granted; part sketch comedy, part music and all surreal silliness. We hear they were a huge hit in Christchurch with their fanbase reaching the double digits!!!!

It’s been 20 years since their first gig at the Southern Blues Bar in Christchurch and now you can see where these two quirky comics began, and where they are now. Check them out 26 – 30 April, Rangatira at Q Theatre. Rhys and Grant will be filming this return for a documentary.  Just in case there is some pure gold in there.

You can also join Rhys as he films his fourth comedy special. His new show I’m a Fighter Jet is a culmination of his best material from his last show, Mr Adventure where he’ll share how the NZ Army trains on a budget, his ideas on how to call his cat and dealing with finding his wife, in the house.

Rhys has honed this show over the past two years by taking it to Just for Laughs in Montreal, touring the UK and Edinburgh, Australia and all over the US.  This will be his most intimate audience yet, with only 450 lucky punters able to watch each night. Tickets are on sale now for the show that’s on for two nights only also at Rangatira at Q Theatre 29 & 30 April.
