BRIEFS is an all-male, sharp-shooting cabaret of burly burlesque, high-flying circus acts and show-stopping drag show that’s coming to Auckland’s Q Theatre for three weeks from 23 November.
Combining high-flying circus acts, burlesque with balls and glitzy cabaret, BRIEFS is a madcap safari through death-defying aerial acrobatics, risqué musical numbers, too-close-for-comfort yo-yo tricks, and show-stopping drag.
With an all-male cast of gender-bending, body-beautiful demi-gods, this award-winning Brisbane-based troupe has been described as an Aussie Cirque du Soleil meets Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Impossibly tantalising and sexy as hell, BRIEFS will tickle and titillate with even the daring trapeze acts simmering with unimaginable sex appeal. Sparkling and seductive, there’s also plenty of theatrical pizzazz with rhinestone posing pouches, extravagant drag costumes and a take on birdbath burlesque a la Dita Von Teese that’s not to be missed.
While the performers are predominantly Aussies with a New York native thrown in for good measure, there’s even a Kiwi connection with shamelessly sassy ringmaster, choreographer, creative director and co-creator Fez Fa’anana originally from Auckland and of Samoan heritage.
Bringing their raucous mix of rib-tickling fun, steamy seductiveness and eye-popping spectacle to Auckland once more after a sell-out four shows at this year’s Pride Festival which we reviewed here, Q Theatre is ending the year with a boylesque balls-out bang. So grab the gals, boys or workmates, get glammed up and head along for an outrageously entertaining night of glitz and athleticism infused with magic tricks, hoola hooping, sequins and six inch heels. R18, this is not a show for kids – expect language, nudity and adult themes!
BRIEFS, coming to Q Theatre, Auckland, for three weeks only from 23 November 2016. Tickets are on sale now.
