Tickets are now on sale for the Show Me Shorts Film Festival 2017 Opening Night and Awards Ceremony on Saturday 28 October at Auckland’s The Civic.
Every year, the country’s leading short film festival and Oscar-accredited event brings to New Zealand film lovers the very best local and international short films.
The pink carpet will be rolled out again for the Festival Opening Night as stars of the films mingle with audience members under the sparkly ceiling of one of New Zealand’s most prestigious picture palaces.
Comedian Te Radar will MC the evening, doing his thing between screenings of all the award winning short films. Auckland Mayor Hon. Phil Goff will be in attendance. A large turn-out of New Zealand filmmakers is also expected, along with the growing community of short film enthusiasts.
Winners of the top two awards, Best New Zealand Film and Best International Film, will become qualified to enter the Academy Awards. Other prizes given out on the night include cash prizes, filmmaking gear and industry memberships from sponsors: Panavision, DEGNZ, WatchMe, Showtools, NZ on Air, Final Draft, Rubber Monkey and Opawa wines.
Tickets to Show Me Shorts Opening Night and Awards Ceremony are $29 and can be purchased from the Ticketmaster website. They include entry to the Official After Party (dress code: Awards Glam), which takes place from 10:30pm in the Wintergarden at The Civic. Guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of Opawa wine, snacks, great company and entertainment from band Hush Money.
Following the Opening Night event, 2017 Show Me Shorts will again head off across the country. More than 20 cinemas from Kaitaia to Stewart Island have lined up to show a selection of the Festival films. Dates and locations are available here.
